This Kenya Field Trip is an invitation to slow down, listen, and learn directly from the people who are shaping resilient food systems and caring for their communities in the face of profound challenge and change.
Rather than a traditional tour, this journey blends community-led learning, cultural exchange, and time in nature, guided by long-standing relationships and grounded in respect for local expertise.

Throughout the trip, we will spend time with DIG farmers and facilitators who are practicing regenerative farming, revitalizing, cultivating, and sharing traditional and indigenous plants, and nourishing their families through and beyond the DIG program.
They will teach us directly about:
This is a rare opportunity to learn from communities whose knowledge holds relevance far beyond Kenya.
Alongside this work, we will visit a DIG partner hospital serving families with young children recovering from malnutrition. These partnerships connect community-based food production with clinical care, ensuring families have the tools, knowledge, and support they need for their children to thrive.
Our time here is designed to build understanding, not spectacle, and to highlight how Kenyan-led solutions are addressing complex health and nutrition challenges with dignity, care, and long-term vision.

We will stay in a bush camp that is owned, run, and staffed by Maasai, operated by a 100 percent Kenyan safari company founded in 2018. The operator has been unanimously recognized for its commitment to wildlife conservation, ethical tourism, and community stewardship.
Here, time in nature is not separate from people or place. It is part of a broader story about land, livelihood, and responsibility. This safari is more than wildlife viewing, it’s an opportunity to witness land stewardship, community partnership, and conservation practice led by our Maasai hosts.

Spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The trip will be guided by Sarah Koch, DIG’s Founder and Executive Director, alongside our DIG Kenya Executive Director, Olivia Nyaidho and members of the DIG Kenya team. They each bring lived experience, local knowledge, and deep relationships with the communities we visit.

The trip includes:

Pricing reflects the scope of what’s included, the small-group format, and the care taken to ensure the experience is rooted in learning, dignity, and mutual respect.
This journey is not about seeing everything. It is about being present, learning deeply, and returning home changed by the people and places you encounter.
